Mind Over Machines Acquires Natoli Design Group
CEO
Tom Loveland cites client benefits in acquisition of UX design firm
Owings Mills, MD – February 4, 2008 -- Mind Over Machines,
a provider of intelligent enterprise applications to government and commercial
clients, has acquired Natoli Design Group, a User Experience (UX) design
firm serving Fortune 1000 clients including Condé Nast, SC Johnson, Chamberlain
and Lucent.
Natoli’s UX services include Ethnographic Research, Information Architecture,
Usability Engineering and User Interface Design. Founder and CEO Joe
Natoli, along with all employees of the company, joined Mind Over Machines
in October. Natoli serves as Director of User Experience.
In announcing the merger, Mind Over Machines CEO Tom Loveland said,
“Natoli’s proven talent, reputation and experience strategically complement
Mind Over Machines’ service offerings. Our current clients are already
seeing enormous benefit from the work Joe’s team has done. This potent
mix – thoughtful interface design and powerful application development
– creates intuitive products that allow people to do their jobs more
easily and efficiently.”
For Natoli, the merger was an easy decision. “We had been approached
several times before. While a couple of those deals might have made financial
sense, the cultural fit just wasn’t there, and the opportunity to really
create value for customers wasn’t there. Mind Over Machines supports
the entrepreneurial culture I created at Natoli Design Group. I’m not
ready to retire, and the team that helped me build this company deserved
my consideration. Tom and I believe that our job is to hire the absolute
best talent, create a motivating work environment, and get out of the
way.”
The combined enterprise will consolidate their two Baltimore-area offices
into the Mind Over Machines headquarters facility over the next several
months. Additional information on the company’s combined capabilities
will appear on the corporate web site over the coming weeks.

Mind Over Machines Among Fastest Growing
Private Companies
nclusion in Inc. Magazine's Annual List Highlights Company's
Three-Year Growth
Owings Mills, MD – November 21, 2007 - Mind Over Machines, a web applications
provider to government and commercial clients, has earned a place on
Inc. Magazine’s 2007 list of the fastest growing private companies in
America. Published annually for 25 years, the Inc. list is highly-regarded
for the depth and accuracy of its private sector analysis.
Accepting the recognition for the company, CEO Thomas Loveland said,
“We would like to thank Inc. Magazine for identifying Mind Over Machines’
growth from among seven million private companies in America. Our team
rarely stops to admire past success – it seems there is always a larger
opportunity in our immediate future. However, this recognition can’t
be ignored. I congratulate the entire Mind Over Machines team for this
accomplishment.”
Citing additional resources provided to his staff this year, Inc. Project
Manager Jim Melloan said the 2007 list “provides the most comprehensive
look ever at the most important part of the economy – the entrepreneurial
part.” Despite Mind Over Machines’ location in a Mid-Atlantic region
that had the fewest fast-growing companies on the Inc. list, the magazine’s
profile of the company highlighted its 99.5%.annualized growth over the
three-year period examined and ranked it as one of the top companies
in Maryland.
Since it was founded in 1989, Mind Over Machines has grown in both the
Commercial and Government sectors. Initial success in Commercial, State
and Local markets encouraged the company to pursue Federal opportunities.
Recently, the company’s Federal Government business has expanded and
now accounts for a significant portion of the company’s revenue.

Mind Over Machines Solution Fights Terrorist Financing
Department of Homeland Security Expands Scrutiny of Financial
Transactions
Owings Mills , MD – June 5, 2007 - Mind Over Machines,
Inc., a web applications provider to government and commercial clients,
announces FinCEN Alert – domain expertise and technology that helps businesses
comply with recent Department of Homeland Security (DHS) regulations.
The Financial Crimes Enforcement Network (FinCEN) safeguards America’s
financial systems from the abuses of financial crime, including terrorist
financing and money laundering, and enforces provisions of the Patriot
Act requiring companies to confirm that their business associates are
not on any of multiple terrorist watch lists.
Initially focused on financial institutions, DHS has now expanded the
scope of FinCEN to include certain other businesses. Law firms and companies
with similar fiduciary relationships are now being examined, others will
follow. For companies that deal with many clients, business partners,
and investors, compliance is a daunting and potentially costly ordeal
fraught with risk. Mind Over Machines recognized the opportunity, developed
expertise, and created an innovative and cost effective technology solution.
The company has successfully implemented FinCEN Alert at a large national
firm.
"There are at least a dozen separate Terrorist Watch databases," says
Tom Loveland, CEO of Mind Over Machines, "containing thousands of
names with new names added regularly. For companies dealing with thousands,
or tens of thousands, of business associates, the matrix expands exponentially.
Add FinCEN's sense of urgency and the need for an automated solution,
today, is extreme."
FinCEN Alert allows client staff to perform ad hoc searches – against
every terrorist watch database in a single transaction – as new business
associates are acquired. In addition, the system regularly reconfirms
the status of associates as terrorist watch databases are updated with
additional names.
FinCEN Alert, Server Edition, provides an even more cost-effective solution
for businesses that need to perform in excess of one million searches
per year.
