Church Bells Chime for AT&T

The 200-ft steeple at Holy Cross Church in Federal Hill will soon evangelize a different message.

Tom Loveland, CEO of Mind Over Machines, Inc. and co-chair of the Mayor's Broadband Task Force, Baltimore's Mayor Stephanie Rawlins-Blake, and officials from AT&T met at this historic location to announce plans to expand network coverage in the City.

AT&T and Holy Cross Church have entered into a partnership that will allow the company to use the church’s steeple as a stealth cell site.  To boost cell coverage in the area, an antennae has been placed covertly inside the steeple, out of sight from parishioners.

Improvements to Charm City will include 4G speeds and more reliable services, as part of AT&T’s $19 billion nationwide investment in wireless networks.  AT&T will also add nine new cell sites and will install spectrum carriers to nearly 300 sites.

The church steeple will continue to call parishioners to worship and now improve cell phone coverage for the community.
