Integrated Time & Attendance System

“Given the complexities
of federal government timekeeping,
and a very tight and dynamic timeline and environment,
[Mind Over Machines has] done a remarkable job . . .”
PROJECT
Integrated Time & Attendance System
CLIENT
National Institutes of Health
  • Modernized mission-critical system - 68,000+ users
  • Resolved long-delayed anomaly and request lists
  • Reduced error rates through improved user experience
  • Reduced administrative costs and freed resources
Challenge
NIH needed a comprehensive upgrade for ITAS, a high-profile, mission-critical application supporting 68,000+ users. ITAS was out of compliance with federal policy, a long list of anomalies needed to be addressed, and users were waiting for extensive enhancements. More critically, the commercial middleware system at its core was scheduled for retirement and soon would no longer be supported. LISA
Solution
Mind Over Machines spent time understanding NIH’s operational goals before revising the core middleware and redesigning ITAS’s user interface. Then Mind Over Machines migrated ITAS from a client-server architecture to a web-based framework, and implemented a more easily configured and scalable database system.
Results
ITAS is now compliant with the 40+ types of federal leave. Managers are better equipped to deal with complicated federal timekeeping rules and respond more quickly to employee requests. Upgrades are much easier to roll out. Perhaps most importantly, the system is much easier to use, resulting in more accurate reporting and increased employee satisfaction.
